Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has achieved rapid growth.In2020,my country’s GDP has exceeded 100 trillion yuan, but the long-term extensive economic growth model has had a bad impact on my country’s environment. In view of this, the Chinese government has actively reflected on and adjusted the traditional economic growth model.During the two sessions in 2021,General Secretary Xi Jinping’s delegation also talked about green GDP and new development concepts many times. There are indications that we essentially want to increase green total factor productivity. Therefore, the research in this article is of great significance and fits the background of the era when China urgently needs to develop green total factor productivity.First of all, this article explores the impact path of environmental regulations on green total factor productivity on the basis of related concepts and theories.Secondly,a comprehensive evaluation of the level of environmental regulation in various regions of my country was carried out,and the super-efficiency SBM model and the Malmquist-Luenberger index were used to calculate the green total factor productivity of each province(city)in my country from 2004 to 2017.Finally,the impact of environmental regulations on green total factor productivity is studied, and the following main conclusions are drawn.First,my country’s overall environmental regulation level has been significantly improved, and the level of environmental regulation in various provinces(cities)and regions has also been improved to varying degrees, but there are obvious regional differences, showing that the level of environmental regulation in coastal economic regions is higher than that in central and western economic regions.Second,my country’s overall green total factor productivity level has shown a downward trend during the study period. The development of green total factor productivity varies significantly across regions, and the green total factor production efficiency of economic and environmental provinces(cities)is far ahead.Third, the impact of environmental regulations on green total factor productivity is "smiling".The current environmental regulations will inhibit the development of green total factor productivity, but after two periods of time lag, environmental regulations will promote the development of green total factor productivity.Factor productivity has a significant negative spatial correlation.
