Huangmei Cross-stitch Pattern In Modern Children’s Clothes Design

Huangmei Cross-stitch,is a form of embroidery art widely spread in Huangmei County and surrounding areas in Hubei.As early as the Song Dynasty,Huangmei Cross-stitch was deeply loved by the people for its simple artistic style,rich decorative patterns,strong auspicious implication,strict picking craftsmanship and pattern narrative techniques full of local characteristics.However,with the rapid development of modern science and technology in recent years,industrialization,mechanization and intelligence have rapidly poured into life,the traditional folk handicraft form of Huangmei Cross-stitch has also been affected and is declining.Now in Huangmei County,Hubei,there are very few scenes where people collectively create cross-stitch art in fields and courtyards.The author grew up in Hubei since childhood and witnessed the old generation of craftsmen embroidering and picking flowers,as well as experienced the crude and simple stitches and threads.At same time,the author could create images with abstract painting style to show the imaginative beauty with the childlike pixelated pattern style and flat artistic features coincide with the design requirements of modern children’s clothing.This topic interprets the cross stitch handicraft in Huangmei area by field investigation and design practice.By analyzing the causes,contents and results of cross stitch,this paper combs the inheritance and continuation of Huangmei Cross-stitch technology,and explores the sustainable development ways through case studies.This paper will use five chapters to summarize the application of Huangmei Cross-stitch patterns in modern children’s clothing design by combining theory with practice.The first chapter is the introduction,which describes the research background,the current status of research at home and abroad,the purpose and significance of the research,the research methods and innovations.The second chapter takes the Huangmei Cross-stitch pattern as the research goal,summarizes the origin,development,pattern research,artistic value,textile application status and so on.This paper studies the literature and historical materials of Huangmei Cross-stitch patterns.By means of data retrieval,field investigation,illustration demonstration and case analysis,the paper summarizes,arranges and classifies Huangmei cross-stitch textiles on the market.Through sampling different kinds of patterns,it analyzes the internal characteristics and aesthetic composition of textile patterns.The third chapter uses digital technology,using Adobe series software to extract the Huangmei Cross-stitch patterns,presents a clear and appropriate amount of image effect,and improves the Huangmei Cross-stitch database.This paper analyzes the children’s,middle-aged children’s and big children’s clothes in the market,summarizes the design rules of modern children’s clothing;analyzes the application method of Huangmei cross stitch pattern from the perspective of children’s pattern,children’s clothing design and children’s psychology,and carries out Huangmei Cross-stitch pattern design and children’s clothing innovative design.Reexamine the design and development of children’s clothing,from the design to the final embodiment of cultural symbols on children’s wear products,to achieve the redesign of patterns and cultural heritage.The fourth chapter starts from the graduation project,trying to show the integration design of Huangmei Cross-stitch patterns and children’s clothing through the spring and summer design practice of ELF baby in 2020.From the theoretical and practical aspects,it brings some new ways of thinking and innovative to the development of Huangmei Cross-stitch and modern children’s clothing.The fifth chapter is to summarize the enlightenment and prospect brought by the application of Huangmei Cross-stitch patterns elements in modern children’s clothing design practice,to summarize the method of integration of traditional pattern and modern design rule from the perspective of modern aesthetics,and to elaborate the main views and deficiencies of this paper.
