Research On David Harvey’s Ecological Marxist Thought

David Harvey(hereinafter referred to as Harvey)is an important representative of Neo-Marxism and an international frontier theorist.He has made important achievements in sociology,anthropology,and political economy.Harvey’s ecological Marxist thought is to inherit and develop Marxist theory and ecological Marxism in the context of globalization,the global ecological crisis is getting more and more serious,and various ecological protection movements and anti-capitalist movements one after another.It is formed on the basis of theory,Frankfurt critical theory and ecological theory.Harvey’s ecological Marxism is based on its unique historical-geographical materialism,process dialectics,and capital-natural unitary ecosystem analysis methods,with a spatial perspective as the starting point,Harvey’s perspectives of urban space production,global space production,and The natural space production perspective launched an ecological critique of capitalism.Harvey used a unique critical perspective to reveal that the capitalist system is the root cause of the ecological crisis,and proposed the establishment of ecological socialism to replace the capitalist system.Harvey proposed the principles of environmental justice and ecological socialism planning to guide the realization of ecological socialism.Harvey’s ecological Marxist thought defended and developed Marxist theory and enriched ecological Marxist thought.But there are also defects in the understanding of Marxism and the separation of theory from reality.Although Harvey’s ecological Marxist thought has theoretical shortcomings,his dialectical ecological thinking and environmental justice thoughts have important enlightenment for the construction of my country’s urban construction and ecological civilization.
