Since the Kyoto Protocol was signed,carbon neutral has become as important as carbon emission reduction in the yield of mitigating the greenhouse effect.Allowing full play of marine carbon sink is beneficial to achieve the targets of peaking carbon emission and carbon neutral as soon as possible.Although marine carbon sink dominated by mariculture has a huge carbon sequestration capacity,it is often ignored because of its uncertainty and low benefit.Therefore,this paper utilizes the fixed carbon content of shellfish and algae to represent the carbon sequestration capacity of marine carbon sink fisheries,and selects the data of shellfish and algae mariculture from 2003 to 2019 in China’s coastal provinces(excluding Tianjin and Shanghai).In this paper,the marine biological carbon sink and the carbon benefit level of each research area are estimated by combining the biomass accounting method and the value accounting method.The research area is divided into two clusters based on the idea of reducing panel data and principal component analysis.This paper uses PLS model to analyze the level of elasticity of the independent variables,then analyze the impact of the development of marine carbon sink fisheries to carbon benefit in China.The conclusions are as follows.Firstly,during the study period,the carbon benefit of marine carbon sink fisheries in China has been increasing continuously,but there is still great growth potential;Secondly,the carbon benefit of Shandong and Fujian is much more than that of other provinces;the level of Guangxi and Hainan’s carbon benefit doesn’t match its marine resources;the average annual growth rate of carbon efficiency in Hebei,Jiangsu and Fujian is faster than others;Thirdly,developing marine carbon sink fisheries is great significance to promote the growth of marine carbon benefit.And the main influential mechanism of China’s marine carbon benefit includes output scale effect,organization and management effect and technology progress effect,but the impact on structure effect is obviously insufficient;Lastly,there are significant differences in the impact of the development of marine carbon sink fisheries to marine carbon benefit between the two clusters: the first cluster’s carbon benefit of marine carbon sink fisheries is mainly influenced by the scale of shellfish and algae、the number of professionals、the area of shellfish and algae and the funds invested in scientific research,but the influence of technology progress effect is obviously inadequate;the main influential factors of the second cluster are the scale of shellfish and algae,the area of shellfish and algae,the number of professionals and the proportion of intensive livestock breeding in marine fishery,but its function of structure effect is underutilized.Finally,to fully tap the potential sequestration capacity of marine carbon sink and promote the sustainable development of China’s marine carbon sink fisheries,this paper puts forward some suggestions according to the study findings,such as expanding the scale of Marine carbon sink fishery,promoting the technology to practical application,establishing the cultivation system for marine talents,giving full play to the management functions of government departments and exploring the trading mode of marine carbon sink.
