Because of the growth of population, technical progress and the rapiddevelopment of economy, human activities have caused increased concentration ofglobal carbon dioxide. This is one of the important factors of global climate warming. The ocean is similar to land. It not only is the ecological system with multiplefunctions and value, but also has the rich biological diversity. It is the most importanthuman survival environment and resources.Ocean is an inexhaustible treasure. In recent years, with global warming, peoplerealize that the carbon dioxide emissions from human activities is far more than theincrement of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, this part of the extra carbon isabsorbed by the oceans, marine has a carbon sink function. It plays an important rolein regulating weather, water conservation, keeping Water and soil and leisure andrecreation, maintaining biodiversity. Therefore, it has a very important meaning toassess the value of carbon sequestration service of aquaculture. The valuation of ecological environmental goods and services has always beenthe focus of research on ecological economics, environmental economics. Thevaluation of ecosystem service and value synthesizes several subjects such as ecology, environmental science and economics etc. Its research not only has theoreticalmeaning, but also has practical guiding significance. This paper summarizes thecommon methods to evaluate the value of ecosystem services. Because the service ofmariculture ecosystem have the characteristics of public goods and externality feature,we consider using the contingent valuation method (CVM) to reflect the value ofecosystem services in monetary form. Through a clear affirmation of maximumwillingness to pay (WTP), finally we can obtain the ecological service value.Taking Zhoushan area as an example, this paper uses the contingent valuationmethod to assessed the mariculture carbon sequestration services economic value. Namely, through the questionnaire survey, in the form of Zhoushan residentsface-to-face survey, we can obtain the respondents maximum willingness to pay(WTP) and get respondents’ socio-economic characteristics of the basic information.Through the statistical analysis, Zhoushan residents’ maximum willingness to pay(WTP) for the ocean carbon sink services is153.28yuan/year. The author discussesthe influence factors of Zhoushan residents’ willingness to pay and draws thefollowing conclusion:(1) The total economic value of Zhoushan ocean carbon sinkecosystem service is5.52×107yuan/year.(2) Five factors(respondents’ age, education level, occupation, family income, the level of awareness on ocean carbonsink) have significant influence on the willingness to pay, but no correlation betweengender and willingness to pay. This paper uses contingent valuation method to analyzeof reliability and validity, and discusses the potential deviations, and then putsforward the corresponding measures. In the part of conclusion, this paper discusses the possible problems, points outthe deficiency in designing the questionnaire content and format, etc.. Although CVMin our country is in the initial stage of development, but through the carefulquestionnaire designing and investigation, CVM can reflect respondents’ willingnessto pay, which contributes to the scientific and reasonable quantification of ecosystemservice value.
