The construction industry is an important pillar industry of China’s national economy,and has made tremendous contributions to the promotion of national economic growth and overall social development.However,the construction industry has long been an occupational accident-prone industry,and the number of deaths currently ranks first among all industrial,mining,and commercial industries in China.A large number of accident cause investigations and studies have shown that the poor implementation of safety responsibilities as a construction company is an important cause of accidents.However,in-depth analysis found that leaders at all levels of construction companies,especially high-level leaders,have attitudes,consciousness,and execution capabilities towards safety.There are many problems in this regard.The level of safety leadership is uneven and generally low.Enterprises cannot form a good safety culture atmosphere and various safety systems cannot be effectively implemented.Therefore,in order to effectively curb the severe construction safety situation,it is of great practical significance to fundamentally improve and improve the high-level safety leadership of construction companies in China.This paper first reviews the safety leadership theory,applies the safety leadership theory to the construction industry,and elaborates the connotation of high-level safety leadership in construction companies.Then,the current situation of research on safety leadership elements was summarized through the method of literature precipitation,and the interviews with the senior leaders of seven large state-owned construction companies with high levels of safety management were used to extract 5 key elements.Based on this,the questionnaire survey and field survey methods are used to study the current status of high-level safety leadership of construction companies in China,and to summarize the existing problems,and analyze the three aspects of social environment,corporate factors and the senior leaders the reason.Aiming at the main problems in 5 aspects,the countermeasures for improving the safety leadership of construction companies are proposed.Finally,a construction company was selected,and the improvement countermeasures obtained from the research were applied to the company.The questionnaire survey was conducted before and after the application to quantify and compare the effectiveness of high-level safety leadership before and after improvement,and verified the improvement countermeasures.By studying the improvement of high-level safety leadership of construction companies,it provides a reference for building construction companies to improve their high-level safety leadership,which is conducive to improving safety culture,creating a good safety atmosphere,improving safety management,and ultimately improving unsafe behavior and reduce the occurrence of construction accidents.
