A Study On The Cultivation Of BE Talents In Iron And Steel Industry Based On Needs Analysis

In order to clarify the needs of foreign language talents in China's iron and steel industry,deepen the reform of Business English talent training in the future,guide colleges and universities to cultivate compound talents in line with the actual needs of iron and steel industry,deepen school-enterprise cooperation,and serve the development of iron and steel industry,this thesis explores the situation of the needs of Business English talents in iron and steel enterprises based on Hutchinson &Waters Needs Analysis Theory from five aspects of enterprises: language needs of iron and steel enterprises,recruitment of language talents,knowledge and skills of Business English professionals,training needs of Business English talents and school-enterprise cooperation,and three aspects of students: current situation of Business English teaching,Business English majors' learning needs,Business English majors' suggestions on setting up Business English courses related to iron and steel industry.This study carries out four stages of work in turn,including combing the literature;collecting domestic steel industry information;determining the questionnaire survey and interviewees to collect data,which are analyzed by SPSS then;and finally writing the thesis on the basis of the earlier stages.Results show that when domestic iron and steel enterprises recruit language talents,campus recruitment and social recruitment are mainly adopted,which focuses on normal undergraduate university.At present,most of the language employees recruited are mainly undergraduates and postgraduates,who mainly graduates from double first-class and key universities,with a monthly salary of 6000-10000 yuan,which is higher than the average salary of most English majors.Business English employees in iron and steel industry have better welfare and treatment,who mainly work as business clerks,foreign trade assistants and foreign trade salesmen.In addition,domestic iron and steel enterprises believe that Business English majors need to master the basic knowledge and practice process,and the knowledge of economics,management and law is also more important.Iron and enterprises don't require high English level for Business English majors,but attach importance to the ability of interpretation and negotiation.Finally,the iron and steel enterprises show a polarized attitude in school-enterprise cooperation with colleges and universities with Business English majors.Nowadays,Business English Teaching in colleges and universities fails to meet students' learning needs to some extent,and the courses,teaching materials,teachers,and internships are not well integrated with the industry;Business English majors learn Business English mainly because they are interested in it and need to consider for future employment;they hope to increase practical courses combined with specific industries;they think that if they should engage in Business English related jobs in the iron and steel industry,it is necessary to learn the knowledge of economics,the general rules and practices of international trade,the knowledge of management,the theory and knowledge of iron and steel industry,the practice process of iron and steel industry and the knowledge of law,and also need to grasp the ability of Business practice,cross-cultural communication,speculation and innovation,and self-learning;students tend to choose English courses that combine Business English with knowledge of iron and steel industry;hope that teachers related to iron and steel industry and Business English teachers will jointly teach Business English courses related to iron and steel industry;hope to adopt the teaching mode of combining teachers' teaching and students' autonomous learning;hope that the materials used should mainly be audio-visual materials,supplemented by writing,translation and reading materials.
