| Zhuxian Town wood engraving paintings is a traditional folk craft from Kaifeng,Zhuxian Town and its surrounding areas in Henan Province.It has a unique artistic style,elaborate colouring,bright colours and full composition,with a unique regional folk art flavour and strong cultural characteristics.It is one of the jewels in the folk culture of the Central Plains.Most of the wood engraving paintings in Zhuxian Town are based on myths,legends and opera stories that are widely circulated among the folk,and they have a wide variety of vivid images.For thousands of years,as traditional folk art,New Year paintings have not only become an important tool to add to the festive atmosphere,but also an important medium for people to ward off evil spirits,pray for good fortune and pass on their beliefs,carrying the aspirations and pursuits of working people for a better life.In recent years,as the state has increased its efforts to protect folk intangible cultural heritage,a great deal of useful work has been done on the heritage of wood engraving paintings in Zhuxian Town.However,most of the research at this stage has remained at the stage of continuation and inheritance of the production process,lacking exploration and excavation of the innovative and creative design of the New Year paintings themselves.Therefore,this research aims to interpret the rich artistic language and profound cultural connotations of Zhuxian Town wood engraving paintings,explore new ways of combining traditional folk art with popular culture and modern costume creativity,and hope to discover new directions for the inheritance and development of traditional folk art and culture through the in-depth excavation of the cultural values of Zhuxian Town wood engraving paintings.This research explores the historical origins and development of wood engraving paintings in Zhuxian Town,Kaifeng,and investigates the cultural connotations of this special folk art of symbolic decoration.In addition,on the basis of reading,summarising and collating documentary sources,a systematic analysis of the production process,craft techniques and content themes of wood engraving paintings in Zhuxian Town is undertaken.The aesthetic style and artistic characteristics of Zhuxian Town wood engraving paintings have been summarised.Based on a detailed study of the design elements presented in Zhuxian Town wood engraving paintings,this paper focuses on the possibilities of exploring the integration of Zhuxian Town wood engraving paintings with modern design.This research uses the concept of modern design to combine the colours and patterns of Zhuxian Town's wood engraving paintings with modern clothing.It attempts to use garments as a new container to convey the meaning of the paintings.Finally,in the process of design practice,the classic character patterns in Zhuxian Town's wood engraving paintings are used as a source of inspiration,incorporating a variety of design techniques to create innovative designs for the patterns,which are flexibly applied to a series of ready-to-wear designs.Through the collision of tradition and modernity,the dialogue between the ancient and the modern,the ethnic characteristics of the garments are enriched and the garments present a strong ethnic style.At the same time,the ancient folk art of wood engraving painting in Zhuxian Town is given new vitality and vigour. |
