The history of traditional Chinese furniture production has a long history,and it continues to develop with the changes in people’s lifestyles and advances in technology.The development of traditional Chinese furniture is a process of inheritance and development.On the basis of the Song Dynasty,the Ming Dynasty continued to improve and summarize the previous experience,and in the middle of the Ming Dynasty,the worldrenowned Ming style furniture was formed.Ming style furniture has its historical and cultural background.In modern society,people’s lifestyles and aesthetic preferences have undergone earth-shaking changes.The design of Ming style furniture is no longer suitable for modern requirements.However,total denial is even more undesirable.Ming style furniture,as China’s excellent traditional culture,contains valuable and reasonable connotations.The lifestyle and aesthetic preferences advocated by literati also have some similarities with modern lifestyles and aesthetic inclination.And the Chinese cultural spirit contained in Ming style furniture is the spiritual essence of "Chinese Design" that is most lacking in contemporary design,and it is the quality of "Chinese Design" that we should uphold and promote.Therefore,the author hopes that on the basis of inheriting the reasonable connotation of Ming style furniture,combined with modern requirements,explore the inheritance and innovative design of Ming style furniture to find the quality of "Chinese design".As a kind of culture,Su Zuo Ming furniture can be reconsidered in the cognition and expression of its cultural genes.Therefore,the cultural gene theory is introduced into the inheritance research of Su Zuo Ming style furniture,and the cultural connotation,cultural spirit and philosophy contained in it are explored,and Ming-style furniture is understood from the cultural spirit and philosophy,and then the four characteristic genes are specifically extracted.So as to lay a solid foundation for its inheritance.On this basis,sort out the research results of Ming-style furniture related inheritance innovation,hoping to get inspiration from the research results of predecessors.Finally,based on the understanding of Su Zuo Ming style furniture and the cultural gene results extracted in the early stage,it is proposed to select the best utensils based on the life scene,determine the structure and tenon and the furniture skeleton based on the standard,and then select the components and inherit the carving culture according to the structural needs.Inheritance and innovation method of connotation redesign.And through design practice,theoretical research is transformed into design,in order to make useful explorations for the inheritance and innovation of Su Zuo Ming furniture.
