A Study On The Costume Culture Of Horqin Mongolia

The Horqin Mongols is a major branch of the Mongolian Nationality and its ethnic costumes,deeply reflecting the traditional culture of the Horqin Mongolian,are also a representative of the Mongolian costume culture,occupying an important position in the Mongolian costume system.With the development of the society and the changes of the times,especially under the influence of globalization,people's ways of living have undergone great changes,and their values and aesthetic concepts have also changed accordingly.In addition,with the advancement of urbanization in China,it has become a necessity for multi-ethnic groups to live in a community,and the lifestyle of the Mongolian people changes rapidly towards that of the Han nationality,eventually leading to the gradual loss of the features of its ethnic costumes(especially in cities and towns).Therefore,fewer and fewer Mongolians know about their ethnic costume culture and wear their own ethnic costumes,and the development and inheritance of the ethnic costumes of the Horqin Mongols are seriously influenced.I grew up in Tongliao,a city where Horqin Mongolians live,and have witnessed the changes happened in the ethnic costumes.For the purpose of protecting and inheriting Horqin Mongolian costumes,the author has chosen a study of Horqin Mongolian costumes culture as the thesis topic and tried to have a comprehensive study on the culture and the style of Horqin Mongolian costumes.This thesis paper aims to probe the difficulties and practical problems currently faced in the inheritance and development of the Horqin Mongolian costumes and put forward some suggestions for solving these dilemmas and problems more effectively.It is found in the study that the main difficulties faced in the cultural heritage of Horqin Mongolian costumes result from the changes in the natural environment,lack of ethnic cultural identity,and reduced practical functions of traditional clothing.The measures suggested for protection and inheritance of the ethnic costumes are as follows: the government should issue specific policies for protecting and inheriting Horqin Mongolian costume culture;the Horqin Mongolian Culture Museum should play a bigger role;ethnic costume culture education should be further strengthened in family,in school and in the society;more cultural inheritors should be cultivated;the innovation in the design of Horqin Mongolian costumes should be encouraged under the guidance of The Local Standards of Mongolian Costumes,and ethnic costume brands should be further promoted to expand their market.The above suggestions are just for reference in the process of inheritance and innovation of Horqin Mongolian costumes.
