Belgian designer Raf Simons is known for his menswear designs,and the menswear brand he founded has created a different aesthetic for a new generation of masculinity.Simons' design is regarded as the representative of the youth sub-culture,and his niche artistic design expression has been praised by professionals in the design world.Simons was then invited by the top luxury LVMH Group to become the mainstream haute couture brand Christian Dior's women's design director,and received praise,since then Raf Simons from the field of niche design into the eyes of the general public,its visibility has been greatly enhanced.At a time when the atmosphere of cooperation was in full bloom,however,Simons announced his departure from Dior,a move that,while causing an uproar,was ultimately seen as an inevitable choice for Simons to pursue the development of personal artistic design.Two years later,Simons accepted an invitation from Calvin Klein,a premium readyto-wear brand owned by the PVH Group,to take full responsibility for the creative management of the Calvin Klein brand.Simons has created a new Calvin Klein in all its aspects,and has received positive attention and consistent reviews from the fashion world.But before the end of his term,Simons and Calvin Klein announced their break-up,the designer-group conflict focused on,Simons' excessive spending and revenue creation is not proportional;and Simons created the new Calvin Klein did not get the brand's previous loyal consumer recognition,Simons innovation let Calvin Klein,although the style of the new but lost the brand's familiarity in the eyes of consumers.The same designer,why did Simons working for Christian Dior get artistic and commercial acclaim,but after working for Calvin Klein was rejected by the group,the two parted ways.This paper answers this question by taking Simons' personal design style and two different periods of service experience as the research background,and analyzing Simons' artistic design style in different periods and the commercial system requirements of his brand.The first chapter introduces the research background and current situation and the current situation of domestic and foreign research,the second chapter mainly analyzes how Simons formed the personal design style,as well as the artistic research of the design style during the Dior and Calvin Klein brand period,and the third chapter is the commercial research on the specific business requirements of the respective brands themselves and the business models adopted by the brands during their tenures during the Dior and Calvin Klein periods The fourth chapter summarizes the artistic nature of chapter two and the commerciality of chapter three with Simons as the core,and the fifth chapter is the conclusion of the influence of commerciality and art on design.
