Skirt is not only the earliest fashion style of human development,but also the most common fashion category in fashion design.The development of modern clothing has a complementary relationship with the development of western clothing.In the history of western clothing,European clothing in the mid-20 th century is in a leading position in the history of western clothing.The mid-20 th century is not only a golden age for the development of haute couture,but also a heyday for the creation and development of designer brands with haute couture as their main business.Studying the dress design features of European designer brands in the mid-20 th century,on the one hand,has an important enlightening effect on cognition and research of European clothing design features,on the other hand,it is helpful to provide design ideas for Chinese designer brands to mold the classic style of brands,and promote the advancement and development of Chinese designer clothing brands and even the clothing industry.First of all,this topic takes the dresses of three representative European designer brands in the mid-20 th century ——Balenciaga,Dior and Givenchy as the research objects.By collecting a large number of literature works and image data about dresses from 1940 s to 1960 s,this paper sums up the dress design features of the three designer brands in the mid-20 th century by data analysis and other methods,and carries out practical application.Secondly,the skirt design of three designer brands in the mid-20 th century is studied from three angles.By consulting and summarizing literature,this paper expounds the development history of dress and the historical background and evolution of dress development in the mid-20 th century,and summarizes the development process of three designer brands originated in the mid-20 th century.By sorting out the data of dress works of three designer brands in the mid-20 th century,this paper makes statistics and analysis on the dress category,outline category and detail modeling category of the three designer brands in the form of tables,summarizes the dress modeling design features of the three designer brands in turn,and discusses the different design ideas and styles of the three designer brands.According to the dress design features of three designer brands in the mid-20 th century,the representative dress works of each brand are selected for virtual replication and virtual extension design application,which can deepen the contemporary designers' full understanding of the dress design features of that period.Finally,according to the designer's brand design ideas and the design features of skirt works,we simulated the creation of independent designer brand and carried out the design practice of spring and summer 2021 series.This topic has improved the theoretical system of European dress modeling research,broadened the design ideas and inspirations of fashion designers,provided reference ideas for the brand building and product design of China's clothing brands,and explained the role of classic works in improving the brand influence.
