Research On Modular Womenswear Design Based On Sustainable Fashion Concept

In recent years,the clothing industry’s rapid development has facilitated the rapid growth of global trade,and the frequency of consumers changing clothes is faster.However,the consumer demand’s rapid growth results in the waste of resources and energy consumption,that makes the fashion industry become the second largest pollution industry and be just after oil industry.The discussion of sustainable fashion has become the topic with close attention in the whole society.International organizations,clothing enterprises and independent fashion designers are all actively altering the previous production mode and design methods so as to promote the clothing industry into a more sustainable direction.The application of modular design method in fashion design can conduct from three aspects of fabric,structure and emotion for realizing the concept of sustainable fashion.The special independence,composability,correlation and simplicity of clothing module can simultaneously provide customers with personalized clothing choices with multiple functions,which is convenient for partial maintenance and the clothing’s secondary recycling,and it can also help fashion designers to save time and avoid the waste of raw materials in the design stage,all of that will greatly improve the development of sustainable fashion.Based on reviewing the relevant literature,this paper makes in-depth study on sustainable fashion and modular fashion design.It mainly starts at summarizing the current,domestic and overseas research results of sustainable fashion and modular design in the concept,development process and application situation.Moreover,it classifies and makes case study about present sustainable fashion design methods,and makes the definition about the concept of modular design and modular fashion design.Besides,this paper clearly describes the principles and procedures of fashion module,modular system’s features and modular fashion design.Meanwhile,there is the summary about the relationship between modular fashion design and sustainable fashion concept.On the basis of sufficient theoretical research,this paper proposes the modular design plan of womenswear to make sustainable fashion concept from three aspects of fabric,structure and emotion come true,and puts them on practice.There are five sets of modular womenswear which can provide reference for the sustainable development of fashion industry.
