With the accelerating process of economic globalization, transnational operation is playing a more and more vital role in the fierce international competition, more and more international companies set up branches in China, however, the cultural differences between different countries always causes types of communication issues during the daily operation and management activities,as a result,it reduces productivity, breaks down the cohesion of teammates, and causes employee lacking of belongingness, sometimes,it even weakens the international competitiveness of enterprises, and eventually significantly influence the progress and development of the enterprise, therefore, how to effectively achieve cross-cultural communication and avoid unnecessary communication barriers has become a meaningful subject for those multinational companies. After summarizing the introduction, organizational structure and project product development process of Shenzhen Branch of Company NM(NM Shenzhen),the paper introduces the cross-cultural communication mode in project management, including the communication process and contents.Secondly,it deeply analyzed the failure cases of NM Shenzhen in cross-cultural communication, mainly manifested in the difficulty of American employees integrating into the Chinese team, the low efficiency of transnational meetings and the wrong decision-making.Thirdly,by applying the theories of Hofstede's 5-dmensional culture and hall's high-low context culture, the paper makes an in-depth study of the deep-rooted reasons for the communication barriers behind the failure cases, which are mainly due to the insufficient cognition and understanding of the cultural differences between China and the United States, the lack of effective cross-cultural management mechanism, the lack of smooth communication channels and the large differences in decision-making ideas. Finally, through analysis, the paper believes that it is necessary to build a solid cross-cultural management system, improve communication channels, promote cultural integration and stimulate cultural continuousimprovement to improve the cross-cultural communication issues in NM Shenzhen.
