Coastal shelterbelt can improve the environmental conditions of coastal areas, improv e the ability of regional disaster prevention and mitigation, and is an important ecologica l barrier in coastal areas of China. It is of great significance to maintain the ecological environment of coastal areas, the life and property of coastal residents, and the safety of economic and social production and life. Therefore, this study selected seven coastal def ense forest sample plots under different vegetation conditions to explore the soil physical and chemical properties, soil enzyme activities and the diversity of plant and herb com munities, established the soil evaluation system of sandy coastal protection forest, made q uality evaluation of different types of soil, and screened out the optimal vegetation planti ng type,It provides a reasonable basis for the further improvement and transformation of sandy coast shelterbelt. The results showed that the soil moisture content, soil bulk dens ity, capillary porosity and non capillary porosity of Pinus tabulaeformis and elm mixed f orest,Pinus tabulaeformis pure forest,Pinus tabulaeformis and Robinia pseudoacacia mixe d forest,Pinus tabulaeformis and Hippophae rhamnoides mixed forest,Pinus tabulaeformi s and apricot mixed forest and Pinus tabulaeformis white wax mixed forest were 7.12%-11.42%,1.23-1.64 g/cm~3,18.19%-31.25%and 4.69%-8.17%,respectively;The contents of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium, available phosphoru s and available potassium decreased with the deepening of soil depth; The activities of s ucrase, catalase and urease were 72.11-209.14 ug/g,0.61-3.2 ml/g and 6.1-25.36 mg/g,re spectively; In the mixed forest of Pinus tabulaeformis and Ulmus pumila, pure forest of Pinus tabulaeformis, mixed forest of Pinus tabulaeformis and Robinia pseudoacacia, mixe d forest of Pinus tabulaeformis and Hippophae rhamnoides, mixed forest of Pinus tabulae formis and apricot, mixed forest of Pinus tabulaeformis and white wax of Pinus tabulaef ormis, the tree height and crown width were 0.72-5.3 m and 1.35-2.52 m respectively;T he coverage, number and height of herbaceous layer in 6 plots of sandy coast shelterbelt were 72%-91%,110-231 and 17.8-32.33 cm,respectively, and the dominant herbaceous species were Suaeda salsa,Setaria setifolia and Artemisia ordosica; In this study,13 eval uation indexes were selected to establish the soil evaluation system of coastal shelterbelt. The results showed that the comprehensive evaluation indexes were 0.5214,0.5126,0.4955,0.4732,0.4460,0.4391,0.4553,respectively,The soil quality evaluation results of Pi nus tabulaeformis and Ulmus pumila mixed forest and Pinus tabulaeformis pure forest we re the best and suitable for planting.
