Objective: To study the effect of High Intensity Interval Training on lower limb muscle endurance and muscle strength of college students.Methods: The subjects were 60 male and 42 female college students in Zibo Vocational Institute and selected by volunteer enrollment and questionnaire.The subjects were randomly divided into control group,general exercise group and high intensity interval exercise group.There was no intervention in the control group,the general exercise group and the high intensity interval exercise group were treated with aerobic endurance exercise and high intensity interval exercise intervention for 8 weeks respectively.The basic indexes(height,weight,BMI),muscle endurance index of lower limbs(1 min continuous squat,1 min half squat,1 seat experiment),muscle strength index of lower limbs(8 RM squat,1 RM squat,vertical jump,standing long jump)and body composition index(whole body skeletal muscle quantity,right leg skeletal muscle quantity,left leg skeletal muscle quantity)were measured before and after 8 weeks exercise respectively.Results:(1)Male and female college students showed the same physical changes before and after intervention.There was no significant difference in height,BMI,but significant increase in weight in the control group;There was no significant difference in height,but significant decrease in weight and BMI;There was no significant difference in height,but significant decrease in weight and BMI in the high intensity interval exercise group.(2)In male college students,there was no significant difference in muscle endurance index before and after intervention;Both one minute continuous squat,one minute half squat and one minute seat experiment in the general exercise group were significantly improved;One minute continuous squat and one minute half squat in the high intensity interval exercise group improved significantly,but there was no significant difference in the one minute seat experiment.In female college students,there was no significant difference in muscle endurance index before and after intervention;Both one minute continuous squat and one minute seat experiment in the general exercise group were significantly improved;One minute continuous squat,one minute half squat and one minute seat experiment in the high intensity interval exercise group improved significantly.(3)In male college students,the 8 RM squat test and 1 RM squat test in the control group were significantly improved,but there was no significant difference between vertical jump and standing long jump;The 8 RM squat test and 1 RM squat test in the general exercise group were significantly improved,but there was no significant difference in vertical jump and standing long jump;The 8 RM squat test,1 RM squat test,vertical jump and standing long jump in high intensity interval exercise group were significantly improved.In female college students,there was no significant difference in the 8 RM squat test,1 RM squat test,vertical jump and standing long jump in the control group;The 8 RM squat test and 1 RM squat test in the general exercise group were significantly improved,but there was no significant difference between vertical jump and standing long jump;The 8 RM squat test,1 RM squat test,vertical jump and standing long jump in high intensity interval exercise group were significantly improved.(4)In male college students,there was no significant difference in total skeletal muscle,right and left legs skeletal muscle in the control group;Total skeletal muscle mass,right and left legs skeletal muscle mass were significantly increased in general exercise group and high intensity interval exercise group.In female college students,there was no significant difference in total skeletal muscle,right and left legs skeletal muscle in the control group;Total skeletal muscle mass of the general exercise group increased significantly,and right and left legs skeletal muscle mass were lower increased.Total skeletal muscle mass,right and left legs skeletal muscle mass were significantly increased in high intensity interval exercise group.Conclusion:(1)8 weeks aerobic endurance exercise and high intensity interval exercise intervention can improve lower limb muscle strength and muscle endurance,among which high intensity interval training can improve lower limb muscle strength more significantly.(2)The increase of skeletal muscle of lower limb is the important physiological basis of muscle strength and muscle endurance.
