Atemnidae belongs to the superfamily Cheliferoidea, the suborder Iocheirata, the order Pseudoscorpiones, the class Arachnida, the phylum Arthropoda. This family is not very diverse with 21 genera and 177 species recorded worldwide(including 1 fossil genus Progonatemnus Beier,1955).Among them, only four genera and nine species(including two published)are previously known from China. In this project we conducted a systematic study on the taxonomy of Atemnidae in China by extensive field collecting, examination of existing specimens in the laboratory and reading a large number of literature. The overview part of the thesis contains the general information of Atemnidae,as well as the research progress of the atemnids. The classification research part includes the diagnoses and keys for the atemnid genera in China and the description of new species discovered. In total, this thesis deals with 26 species and six genera of Atemnidae from China.Among them, two genera,Catatemnus Beier,1932 and Oratemnus Beier,1932,are recorded from China for the first time;17 species are new to science: Anatemnus xinjiangensis sp.nov.,Atemnus lepidotus sp.nov.,Catatemnus huae sp.nov.,C.laminosus sp.nov.,C.multideus sp.nov.,C.ramus sp.nov.,C.scaber sp.nov.,C.tengchongensis sp.nov.,C.tibetanus sp.nov.,Diplotemnus iphthimos sp.nov.,Oratemnus hainanensis sp.nov.,O.yunnanensis sp.nov.,Paratemnoides guangdongensis sp.nov.,P.parvus sp.nov.,P.politus sp.nov.,P.trisulcus sp.nov.,P.yunnanensis sp.nov..In addition, the following nine species are also included in the thesis: Anatemnus chaozhouensis Hu & Zhang,2012,A.orites(Thorell,1889),A.reni Gao &Zhang,2016(new female discovery),Atemnus hamiensis Zhao,Gao & Zhang,2020,A.limuensis Hu & Zhang,2012,A.niger Zhao,Gao & Zhang,2020,A.politus(Simon,1878),Diplotemnus balcanicus(Redikorzev,1928)and Paratemnoides sinensis(Beier,1932).All specimens are deposited in the Museum of Hebei University(MHBU).There are 58 morphological feature plates in the thesis, including 19 drawings plates and 39 photograph plates. The keys to genera and species for this family in China are also presented.
