The creatures on Earth have experienced the Cambrian explosion and several species extinctions, and have evolved to this day.During the struggle with the natural environment, organisms have surfaces with special functions, such as lotus leaf surfaces, dolphin skin, and dung beetle carapace.Researchers have explored the special functional surfaces of organisms, discovered the microstructure of biological surfaces, and revealed the mechanism for achieving special functions, providing new ideas for solving actual production and life. The excellent adhesion properties of Salamandridae and Andrias in wet and slippery environments attracted our interest, and revealing its mechanism of action is of great significance for the design of bionic surfaces. Therefore, this paper selects four typical organisms, namely,Chinese fire belly newt,Chinese warts triton, spotless stout newt, and Chinese giant salamander,to study its adhesion characteristics and adhesion mechanism. In this paper, the climbing angle measurement platform is used to test the climbing angle of four samples under different conditions. The adhesion force measurement platform is used to measure the adhesion force per unit area of the sample. The wetting surface area is counted to compare the wettability of different samples.Observe the body surface through a digital microscope to compare the roughness of different samples, collect and weigh the mucus of the sample, compare the amount of mucus on the surface of the different samples, observe the morphology of the sample under the scanning electron microscope, and then compare and summarize the sample adhesion mechanism. The conclusions obtained in this article are as follows:1.In the climbing angle test, the four samples have a certain ability to adapt to rough surfaces;for different samples, the impact of surface water on the angle of attachment results is different;the wettability of the selected material has little effect on the climbing results;among the four samples, the angle of attachment of the spotless stout newt is always the largest. The Chinese fire belly newt performs best under little water conditions. The Chinese warts triton is not sensitive to changes in water volume.Chinese giant salamander will slip off the platform in plenty water conditions.2.In the adhesion measurement test,as the amount of water increased, the adhesion of Chinese fire belly newt and Chinese warts triton increased first and then decreased, and the adhesion of spotless stout newt and Chinese giant salamander gradually decreased.3.Chinese fire belly newt has the best wettability, followed by Chinese warts triton. The wettability of the spotless stout newt is similar to that of the Chinese giant salamander.4.Chinese warts triton surface is rougher than the other three samples. The mucus volume of the spotless stout newt and Chinese giant salamander is significantly more than the other two samples. The four types of samples have a polygonal structure, with spherical protrusions distributed on the polygonal structure, and micro-pitted structures on the abdomen. The morphological differences between the samples are mainly in parameters such as diameter and width. The width between polygons of the spotless stout newt is significantly larger than the other three samples.5.The Chinese fire belly newt, the Chinese warts triton, the spotless stout newt and the Chinese giant salamander realize the adhesion function through the polygonal structure on the sole of the foot, the spherical micro-protrusions and the micro-pits of the body belly. The rougher the sample surface, the worse the adhesion ability;the stronger the wettability, the greater the influence of the change in the amount of water;the mucus can improve the adhesion, and may cause the friction coefficient to decrease in plenty water conditions.
