Abstract/Summary:
In 2020,when extreme disaster climate occurs frequently, climate change has become an undisputed fact.In the context of global change, adaptation has become the criterion for sustainable development. As a sensitive region of climate change in China and even the world,Tibet is particularly affected by climate change.Meanwhile,it will magnify the impact and produce more serious consequences in the world.Climate change has already had a serious impact on farmers in Tibet who depend on natural resources for their livelihood.Finding a more appropriate and effective adaptation strategy is not only a requirement for local farmers and the government, but also a new challenge for scholars around the world in the new era.Through questionnaire survey, observation and data collection, this paper analyzes the farmer’s perception and adaptation of climate change in Tibet.Through on-the-spot investigation of 467 villagers’ basic living conditions, the agricultural economy as well as the perception of climate change and adaptability of the Lhasa,Xigaze,Shannan,Linzhi and Changdu city, through multiple linear regression analysis, and linear analysis, factor analysis, the integrated quantitative and qualitative method of combining the carried on the thorough research, analyzes the main factors influencing farmers awareness of climate, explores the restrictive factors of farmers’ climate adaptation strategy choice, put forward targeted suggestions to help them better deal with climate change,to achieve increase in production and income from the aspects of the practical needs of farmers. The conclusions are as follows:1.The climate of Tibet has changed to a certain extent in recent years, most farmers believe that the climate has changed significantly in recent years, but they have different perceptions of the degree of change, and the directions and pathways of perception are diversified.2.The main factors that can affect farmers’ climate perception and adaptation are: the education level of the head of the household, the production years of agriculture and animal husbandry, the public service status of family members, the amount of savings, whether to join professional cooperatives, gender, per capita cultivated land, per capita annual income and housing structure;Among them, the education level of the head of the household, the number of years of agricultural and animal husbandry production, the public service status of the family members, the amount of savings and whether to join the professional cooperatives had a significant impact.3.On the premise of perceiving climate change, farmers have taken various measures to cope with it.The response measures of planting industry focus on strengthening irrigation or building dykes to resist flood, building plastic mulch greenhouses, more pesticides and increasing weeding frequency according to local conditions.Animal husbandry response measures focus on the handling of livestock, the purchase of forage, joint relatives to resist.4.Farmers who use modern communication technologies such as We Chat can get more information and tend to buy insurance or transfer employment to cope with the impact of climate change.Households with high per capita incomes tend to buy insurance against the effects of climate change.Farmers engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry for long years tend to transfer employment.Farmers with good economic base and a low proportion of migrant workers tend to adjust the agricultural production structure and apply modern agricultural technologies to cope with the risks of climate change.Farmers whose family members include village officials and state officials also tend to expand their farms.5.The existing role of the government in guiding farmers to adapt to climate change is weak.About 40% of farmers hope to get further help from the government, and another 30% hope that the government can establish a professional training course on climate response measures.Farmers need to constantly improve their ability to cope with climate change, learn more advanced technical knowledge and absorb innovative ideas by various ways. The relevant government departments should also strengthen the help to farmers, such as adjusting the local crop structure, building ecological projects, building large water conservancy projects.
