| Toponyms is a symbolic language with spatial significance that can express location.Local people give toponyms with historical, cultural, social, national and other meanings. The inherent meaning of these metaphors enables toponyms not only to express location, but became a spatial, symbolic, epochal toponymic landscape. The complexity of the historical background in Northeast China makes toponymic landscapes have unique ethnic characteristics and cultural connotations, but the metaphorical spatial information in these toponymic landscapes is difficult to quantitatively represent.Spatial information entropy theory can quantitatively measure map spatial information. Its calculation results can reflect the spatial distribution feature of toponymic landscape. However, the current spatial information entropy model is often used to measure map spatial information and cannot be directly used for spatial feature analysis and visual expression effects. Therefore, the existing spatial information entropy model has some limitations. In order to measure the spatial information entropy of toponymic landscape map more accurately. This paper integrates four kinds of spatial information entropy analysis models: map symbol information entropy, geographic distribution information entropy, topological adjacency information entropy and topic information entropy, and proposes the Composite Information Entropy(CIE)spatial analysis method, and compares this method with The combination of the more traditional Kernel Density Estimation(KDE)and Standard Deviation Ellipse(SDE)spatial analysis methods in GIS.Therefore, this research can comprehensively analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of all kinds of toponymic landscape from multiple perspectives, and confirm the spatial information entropy theory can quantitatively measure toponymic landscape map with spatial information entropy. The main contents and methods of this paper are as follows :(1)Establish a relatively complete toponymic landscape database in Northeast China, which can identify the toponymic landscape types, ethnic types and origin time of all toponymic landscape in Northeast China,so as to provide a data basis for subsequent research.(2)Integrate the existing spatial information entropy analysis model and propose the CIE spatial analysis method.According to the features in the study area, when calculating the geographic distribution information entropy and topological adjacency information entropy, choose to construct a Voronoi diagram combining point and line elements, and then calculate the geographic distribution information entropy and topological adjacency information entropy of the full elements. This method can comprehensively consider the influence of line and point data in the study area on the landscape distribution characteristics of toponymic landscape.(3)Quantitatively study the toponymic landscape characteristics in Northeast China from the perspective of combining traditional with CIE spatial analysis methods. The toponymic landscape characteristics included the toponymic landscape spatial distribution characteristics of all ethnic groups and each historical period and the characteristics of rural settlement expansion and migration. From the new perspective of CIE and traditional spatial analysis method, this paper discusses the distribution characteristics of toponymic landscape, confirming the abstract symbolic spatial information entropy theory can applied to the real specific maps, and finally obtains the analysis results of toponymic landscape characteristics in northeast China.Research results show that:(1)Toponymic landscape in northeastern China contains unique cultural connotations. It also reveals the distribution of the different minority nationalities and different historical period, the distribution of the rural residential areas, the evolution of spatial pattern also reflects the interaction between different ethnic groups.(2)The toponymic landscape in northeastern China of the establishment of the database can supplement the existing Chinese historical geography information system database in the northeast of some missing data. The database can also be as the basis of historical geography study related areas, the protection of the cultural connotation of toponymic landscape and promotion to provide data basis.(3)This research used a combination of the traditional point density spatial analysis method in GIS and the CIE spatial analysis method. It also solved the problem of how to quantitatively analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of toponymic landscape in Northeast China.By comparing the analysis of toponymic landscape characteristics with the historical event process data in the study area as a test,to support the analysis results,it is proved that this method can analyze relatively accurate geographical toponymic landscape characteristics. This research provides a perspective and method of spatial information entropy for exploring the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of ethnic settlements and quantitatively measuring the amount of spatial information contained in toponymic landscapes. The improved CIE spatial analysis method can be applied to specific toponymic landscape maps. The calculation result of spatial information entropy can reflect the spatial distribution density and direction of toponymic landscapes of various ethnic groups and historical periods in the study area,as well as the expansion and migration of rural residential areas and other toponymic landscape characteristics. The results of the study can broaden the application of spatial information entropy theory. |
