Species diversity and maintenance is the core of biodiversity conservation.Conducting research on species conservation service assessment is also a hot and difficult issue in ecosystem service flow assessment.We took Xiamen City,the national ecological civilization pioneering demonstration area,as an example.Based on a systematic review of the biodiversity value assessment at home and abroad,we focused on the technical difficulties of species conservation service assessment and established a value-based approach assessment model for species conservation services based on emergy method.During the process of model construction,we proposed the principle of value assessment of species conservation services and established the results for species listed in different categories.We then calculated the adjustment coefficients of terrestrial and marine habitat quality and estimated the parameters of China's emergy/GDP ratio.Finally,the flow values of the city of Xiamen's species conservation services were evaluated in 2010 and 2015 based on the case studies of terrestrial and marine species in Xiamen.The main research conclusions are as follows.(1)A value evaluation model of species conservation service based on emergy method was here constructed.The parameters of value assessment model include the terrestrial and marine species richness and species renewal rate,the marine and terrestrial habitat quality adjustment factors,the different species endangered grade,the conservation and unique grade index,species emergy conversion rate and China's emergy/GDP ratio.(2)China's emergy/GDP ratio parameter was estimated,and used to calculate the emergy conversion rate of individual species in the study area from the perspective of biological evolution and the local allocation method,to modify the energy-environment-economic system emergy analysis table of China and then estimate the result in 2010 and 2015.China's emergy/GDP ratios were 2.9×1012 sej/yuan and 2.04×1012 sej/yuan.(3)The value of species conservation services in Xiamen case was assessed.From 2010 to 2015,the value of terrestrial species conservation services increased from 5.07×107 yuan to 7.50×107 yuan,and the ocean increased from 6.83×108 yuan to 2.07×109 yuan.The degree of ocean change was significantly higher thal that of land.The marine and terrestrial wildlife species in Xiamen were sorted,and the total number of species included in the assessment was 5,110,of which 1,321 were terrestrial species and 3,879 were marine species.Among the various protected grades of species,the terrestrial plant species is 228,the terrestrial animal species is 53,and the marine animal species is 91.Among these,species endemic to China and key species protected in Fujian Province made up most of the protected species.The study indicated that the grade of protection for terrestrial species was higher than that for marine species.(4)The research shows that the constructed species conservation service flow value assessment model can objectively reflect the changes of the protected status and habitat of the species in the region and can facilitate comparative analysis between different regions,between different protection classes,and between the ocean and the land and can provide a method reference for the species conservation services flow value assessment.
