Abstract/Summary:
In the magazine publishing world, The New Yorker magazine is very special. The influence it casts on American journalism and publishing is outstanding, so to the illustration industry. When most of the magazines use photography on covers nowadays, The New Yorker kept the tradition of illustrated covers for almost a century. It is intriguing how it has represented the city to the world in its ninety years history. In the paper, the research covered the illustratiors whose covers fall into this category, and the variety of stylistic approaches taken to depict elements such as architecture and transportation. The writer also highlights editors, artists and covers by the timeline showing the evolvement of the magazine covers in the past nine decades.
