Abstract/Summary:
This report investigates and documents the levels of computerization and integration of data in the Inventory Department of the Nevada Department of Transportation. The sources of information, the Cumulative Mileage Milepost Index, the System Log and the Computer Aided Videolog were documented. The proposed solution was to divide the data into three separate groups: alignment data, structural data, and point data. The alignment information documents the path of the roadway; the structural information concerns the description of the roadway in three dimensions, and the point file lists the roadway appurtenances. Software was developed using the SAS package to create the point file from the Cumulative Mileage Milepost Listing and to update the point file using the data from the Computer Aided Videolog. Additional routines access the point file to create reports and display data.
