| The New York State Northern Forest Lands Council members have adopted multimedia as a support strategy to educate the public about The Northern Forest Lands Inventory process and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). A Silicon Graphics IRIS INDIGO WorkStation was used to develop three multimedia demonstrations of GIS technology. At two public information sessions, these multimedia productions were used to explain GIS technology and to inform local people of resource inventory progress. This project report describes how the multimedia productions were made. Part of the documentation of this project is several video programs contained on one video tape. The tape starts with a five minute introduction to the project. Next, a video titled An Interactive Demonstration of GIS shows how the production "What is GIS?" was used interactively at public information sessions. The final video, Using An Interactive Program to Explain GIS Technology, shows the three multimedia productions and how they were assembled. |
