LOS ASPECTOS MODERNOS DE LAS 'RIMAS' DE GUSTAVO ADOLFO BECQUER. (SPANISH TEXT)

Gustavo Adolfo Becquer (1836-1870) is the best Spanish poet of nineteenth-century. His volume of poetry Rimas (1871) brings new aspects producing a renovation of the genre in the Spanish literature.; This study comprises an analysis of the Rimas. In the first two chapters Becquer's poetry shows several elements that are differ- ent from the Romantics. In the third chapter is established a close relation between Becquer and the modernistas. In the last two chapters the Rimas are linked to the Generation of 1927. At the beginning of the thesis a new criticism type of analysis is implemented, and later, reader response kind of approach is applied to the text.; The dissertation is based principally in a close reading of the Rimas to bring a new perspective of Becquer's creativity. He is the most important precursor of the contemporary Spanish poetry.
