| The health self-concepts of 10 school-age children with asthma and 27 school-age children with diabetes were measured using the Child's Health Self-Concept Scale (CHSCS) (Hester, 1985). These scores were compared with the mean score of the group of healthy children on whom the CHSCS was standardized, as well as with each other. A significant difference was established between the group of children with asthma and the group of children with diabetes. However, when the demographic variables of age, sex, and socioeconomic status of the children were analyzed, no significant effects were found. |
