Abstract/Summary:
In May 1994, the Oswego County Department of Promotion and Tourism initiated a project for the research, development, and layout of an "Interpretive Guide to the Salmon River Corridor." The publication consists of: (1) a driving tour to the area's historic and natural resources and attractions, (2) site-specific children's activities, and (3) a guide to recreational activities in the area.;This study looks at the concepts of interpretation and interpretive planning, as well as and previous literature concerning self-guided trails and self-guided auto tours which were used in the creation of the guide. Next, an eight step process that was followed is discussed and related to the processes as suggested in the literature review. Finally, recommendations for future work in the area, and work with the interpretive guide is done, along with conclusions concerning the overall project's success.
