Abstract/Summary:
A database for application of environmental aspects across the engineering curriculum is created. This database represents the typical influent and effluent stream chemical concentrations from four different sources: municipal wastewater treatment plant, an electrochemical facility, a pharmaceutical unit, and a battery manufacturer. In addition to these concentrations, safety information regarding the different compounds encountered in these industries are also listed.; The primary function of this information source is to aid the engineering student in obtaining a design solution taking into considerations the environmental factors required for a safe and hazard free product. This database is compiled on a handy computer diskette ready for use in classroom applications. The database created is suitable for several engineering disciplines and can be used for open ended design projects as well as homework problems.
