Abstract/Summary:
Present-day online news sources are in a state of flux because the online medium is growing quickly and existing media outlets have been unable to meet the unique challenges posed by the Web. Hence, what we see today is a large number of Web sites that are successful copies of their newspaper or broadcast form. The problem with this, however, is that online news sources do not offer the online reader anything that is different from their conventional product nor do they utilize the capabilities that are most remarkable about the Internet.;In order to examine the flux that exists, this thesis examines the advantages and disadvantages associated with the Internet as a news source and how to present information to an ever-changing audience. It also explores online advertising in terms of how it differs from conventional media as well as why problems exist with online advertising and how they may be resolved.
