Abstract/Summary:
An understanding of passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is presented in this project. First, an extensive bibliographical research is done on the system components of the reader, the transponder, and its circuitry. Second, a RFID transponder is designed, simulated, and built using discrete components. Once completed, the output radiated signal from the transponder is observed on an oscilloscope.; As part of this project, an integrated circuit of a passive transponder is studied under a microscope and several pictures are taken. The design of the antenna coil of the transponder is also presented using theoretical and practical considerations.
