Abstract/Summary:
To maintain that applying coverage directly to design models may yield advantages over coverage of code generated from models, this thesis establishes a set of test coverage measures for ROOM (Real-time Object-Oriented Modeling). The proposed test coverage measures are more capable than code coverage measures of assessing multifaceted object-oriented models. This thesis demonstrates how to set up various test coverage measures to satisfy different requirements or from different perspectives, and how to reveal relationships among the measures. It illustrates that some test coverage results can be inferred given test results in other measures.; We argue that the test coverage measures introduced sufficiently represent object-oriented models in the concern of test coverage, and the relationships among them are reasonable in deduction and can lead to cost saving in testing practices. To our knowledge, this is the first time this set of issues has been addressed.; ROOM (Real-time Object-Oriented Modeling) is a computer language capable of describing models in the real-time domain. The thesis uses ROOM as an example in the elaborations, but the conclusions apply more broadly.
