Abstract/Summary:
When a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is formed based on the connectivity empowered by routing protocols, users need to utilize the network by offering and accessing the shared resources. When shared resources are available, enabling users to discover these resources is a fundamental task. For this purpose, we present resource discovery and key-value lookup protocols while focusing on two goals: high success rate and low message overhead . We adopt three distinct approaches. First, we propose a new resource advertisement technique for clustered ad hoc networks. Second, we develop a set of key-value lookup protocols for position-aware ad hoc networks. Third, we present KELOP, a fully distributed key-value lookup protocol, which does not require the support of position information or network organization. Simulations show that KELOP is able to provide lookup success rate close to 100% with low control message overhead.
