Abstract/Summary:
Rapid growth in technology has significantly changed the learning and teaching environment in post-secondary institutions. These changes have accelerated the need for the integration of technology in higher education, which leads to the very relevant issue of how to manage technology. The purpose of this thesis is to study the management of technology in post-secondary institutions. We analyze and evaluate three technologies currently being incorporated by post-secondary institutions to enhance both learning and teaching. These are online courseware, mobile/wireless computing, and Smart Classrooms. To determine the significance of these three technologies for higher education, and to discover what strategies are utilized in their integration, a survey was conducted. As well, taking into account the situation at the University of Regina, we have made recommendations on how to manage change and how to use technology to achieve the University's strategic goals. Our examination of these selected technologies shows that they not only are having a pronounced effect on the traditional classroom setting, but also on the management of technological changes at post-secondary institutions.
