| This thesis presents an application recovery scheme for mobile, wireless systems. The scheme uses a mobile-agent based framework to facilitate seamless logging of application activities for recovery from transaction or system failure. The scheme discusses the effects of long standing failures on mobile transactions. We show through simulation study that our approach effectively utilizes limited wireless bandwidth, efficiently handles handoff, disconnected processing, and reduces overall recovery time. |
