| This paper should be of interest to people who are interested in information and computer technology and it relationship to the development of people to contribute in our society. This research project argues that information and computer technology plays a central role in the development and changes to our social, business, family and educational areas.;Using a grounded theory methodology, the data are gathered, analyzed and formulated into. ideas and theories about what is happening and the role of information and computer technology. It reviews the information gathered through detailed research. The theories and generalizations are generated from and grounded in the categorized and coded data. This information is augmented by current theories to help develop new generalizations and theories. The explanations are specific to the area of study but could be further extrapolated to other areas with additional research or elaboration.;The information gathered indicates there is a gap between what people feel is important for developing a person into a functioning and successful human being and what organizations feel is required to develop a "worker" for today's organization. People understand the role technology needs to play for organizations in business, but they do not share the same eagerness to embrace technology when developing the skills, knowledge and learning for the children in the educational institutions. |
