This thesis will focus on the life and living of the elderly Thai people, another Asian ethnic group in the United States. The Thais are an underrepresented minority group that migrated from Southeast Asia during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Their culture is unique. Historically, the Thais have retained their independence for more than 700 years. This thesis examines the benefits and dilemmas they have shared with other Asian immigrant groups. This research was conducted by individual interviews, questionnaire surveys, and literature reviews. Finally, this study discusses the structure of the Thai community, development of organizations, and their social service needs. |
