Abstract/Summary:
As partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Engineering degree at the University of Louisville, chemical engineering students must complete the course, ChE 562: Process Control Laboratory. Included among the topics covered in this course are feedback/feedforward control, dead-time compensation, and cascade control.;The total expense of the three experiments amounts to ;It has been proposed that three new process controls experiments be designed to replace the existing experiments. The purpose of this thesis project was to design a new feedback/feedforward control experiment, dead-time compensation experiment, and cascade control experiment. Simulations of the experiments with Intellution FIXRTM were then done to ensure that the designs selected would provide acceptable laboratory results. Finally, a cost analysis of each experiment was completed.
