Abstract/Summary:
Virtual teams are a result of advanced technology creating the flexibility for organizations to globally share information and to expand employee knowledge and skills externally. Literature supports the challenges and advantages of using virtual teams and the emotional and physical components that impact their performance. This research focuses on the discovery of applying the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) method, pioneered by Dr. William Edwards Deming, for virtual team effectiveness. The effectiveness of virtual teams is the outcome of its performance, which is measured by how well the virtual team is structured and how well processes are conducted to meet business goals and objectives. Upon the examination and results of this research, it becomes apparent that Deming's PDSA method highlights the importance of integrating the necessary phases into virtual team structures and processes so that organizations can evaluate the team's components to measure and make the necessary improvements to achieve the results.
