Abstract/Summary:
Collaborative CAD systems, which enable real-time collaboration on CAD between distributed designers, are gaining more and more attention. However, such systems are hardly achievable, especially in support of collaborative assembly modeling. In an effort to bridge this gap, a team of designers are dedicated to develop a real-time collaborative CAD system with aim at platform-independent 3D assembly modeling, called e-Assembly. As part of this effort, this thesis reports the development and the implementation of a Team Project Management (TPM) system to support the implementation of e-Assembly along the real-time collaboration line. In particular, the issues addressed in this thesis include system architecture, information repository, authentication and access control, etc. As a result, this system enables users of e-Assembly to create and access the team project information in a seamless, managed and secure manner.
