Abstract/Summary:
WEBKVDS (Web Knowledge Visualization and Discovery System) has been built in an attempt to visualize website structure and topology and visualize both apparent and implicit useful data. WEBKVDS can assist website administrators and information publishers in their maintenance, publishing, and analysis work. WEBKVDS is composed of two parts: FootPath and Web Graph Algebra. FootPath renders a 2D representation of a web structure overlaid with tiers of various data, called a web Graph. Web Graph Algebra operates on graphs and their layers to generate other graphs' highlighting relevant information. FootPath is the basis for Web Graph Algebra. In this thesis, we concentrate on FootPath. FootPath visualizes a website's structure with a tree-like structure. By applying statistical methods or data mining techniques on web log files, we generate new useful information which was implicit before and visualize the new generated information on top of the website structure visualization.
