Abstract/Summary:
Proper analysis of customers' needs is a major part of system development process. In order to deliver a quality system, Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) need an effective methodology for determining what the system needs to do to meet the clients' needs. However, prior to this work, no comprehensive methodology was available. The BSA Framework, in an effort to bring previously loose practices together, outlines all the tasks and associated deliverables that BSAs need to complete in each phase of the system development life cycle. The implementation of the BSA Framework in Company X led to large savings, both in terms of company money and the BSA's time. Although the BSA Framework contains only those practices that were found to be most effective through actual project experience, in order for it to remain a useful tool it needs to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the technology industry.
