An ultrasonic Distance Measuring transducer has been implemented in this project. The main application of this project is to develop a distance measuring unit to measure the distance between the X Ray emitter and patient location in a surgery setup. A PIC microcontroller was programmed to run and execute the entire system. An optical pulse was used to synchronize the transmitter and the receiver unit.; Two boards for the transmitter and receiver unit was fabricated and setup. The transmitter unit was provided with an optical pulse receiver and the ultrasonic receiver unit was provided with an optical pulse transmitter unit. Both the units of the transducer are synchronized by the optical pulse. The optical pulse is triggered by the user interface through a serial port connection. The Program begins by getting a user input and measures the output values from there on.; The main advantages of this system are cost, precision and accuracy. The optical system helps in improving the errors due to timing by synchronization. This report elaborates on the different types of distance measuring sensors, the developed circuit description, results and applications. |
