This thesis demonstrates the analysis, design and fabrication of a 19 to 38GHz MMIC balanced frequency multiplier with a potential for Local Multipoint Distribution System (LMDS) applications. The circuit is designed in coplanar waveguide (CPW) and utilizes planar transitions (CPW to slot) and a T-junction to achieve a balanced topology. In addition, a new class of compact CPW structures is implemented in the circuit to demonstrate their usefulness. Strong correlation is found between the measured and simulated results. The doubler circuit achieves a maximum conversion gain of -10.37dB at an input power of 15.52dBm. |
