Utilization of a clinical practice development model may be an effective strategy for equipping nurses to meet the complex challenges of today's healthcare environment. Implementation of a clinical practice development model designed to facilitate the progression of novice nurses to expert levels of practice presents a significant task. Establishment of a theoretical and operational framework commensurate with an organization's nursing philosophy, mission, and vision will help to conceptualize, organize, and guide the project to successful implementation. The following manuscript is a report of the development of the framework for the implementation of a clinical practice development model, based on Benner's novice to expert theory, in a small, community, acute care hospital. |
