Abstract/Summary:
The thesis proposes a conceptual Viewpoints-based Value-Driven Enterprise Knowledge Management framework ViVD-EKM (pronounced vivid EKM) that builds on and advances beyond the narrow aspects of existing knowledge modeling and management frameworks. The ViVD-EKM consists of a conceptual framework that is built to represent the enterprise knowledge in a natural and a useful way. This conceptual framework includes: a thorough ontology that addresses the different aspects and characteristics of the EKM domains: dynamic, intentional, social, contextual, time-sensitive, formal & informal, and enterprise business knowledge and decision support focused; a four levels conceptual knowledge representation structure with strong abstraction mechanisms; a knowledge representation schema that is based on capturing and modeling all types of knowledge exists in knowledge domains (know-how, know-what, know-why, know-when, etc.), structuring such knowledge based on domain stakeholders' viewpoints (individuals perspectives about the domain) and driven by what individuals value about the domain and how they tend to read it.
