Abstract/Summary:
Today, most of the Protocols which are successful in the Internet have performance degradation, when faced with environments characterized by long path delays and intermittent connectivity. These problems are more intensified by the end systems that have severe power and memory constraints. To address these types of problems, the DTN architecture is designed, the architecture operates as an overlay above the transport layer of the networks it interconnects.;Through this thesis, we provide the implementation of DTN using Linux as the end systems and also evaluate the performance of DTN in a Symmetrical channel and an Asymmetrical channel with a link delay of 1280 ms (Cis-Lunar) and for different Bit error rates (BER). This thesis provides a comprehensive comparison of DTN with other protocols like SCPS-Vegas and FTP with a Link delay of 1280 ms and for different BERs.
