Abstract/Summary:
In this thesis work, based on a 0.18u CMOS technology band-pass filter circuits are implemented using transconductance-capacitor (Gm-C) method. Two types of capacitor components, namely MiM (metal-insulator-metal) and VnCap (vertical natural capacitor) are used in the filter implementations. The design specifications of the filters are gain of 0 dB, center frequency of 1 MHz and bandwidth of 550 KHz. The circuit performance, area and other issues of the filters with using the two types of capacitors are compared through extensive circuit simulation. It shows that VnCap capacitor gives a better performance at the expense of larger area. In addition, a fully differential operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is developed to be used in the filter circuits. The bandwidth of the OTA is 33MHz. The filter circuits developed in this project will be used in an adaptive sensor readout circuit.
