Abstract/Summary:
Women have increased in all sectors of the workplace over the last fifty years. A more negotiable work environment has resulted due to changes in the labor market, allowing workers greater opportunities to change their current situation. Despite these changes, women continue to earn less as compared to their male counterparts.; This research builds on previous negotiation research by examining gender differences in attitudes toward negotiation and the propensity to initiate negotiation within the athletic population. Whether cognitive, emotional, and social factors explain and mediate these gender differences described in previous research are also explored.; The measure used in this research was the Modified Predictors of the Propensity to Initiate Negotiation (M-PINN). Implications and Recommendations for future research are discussed.
