Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of the DIVAs project is to develop a large scale distributed simulation system for agent based models. In its current version, the DIVAs system runs on one computer. Our goal, in this thesis, is to implement the distributed features that will allow users working on individual computers to update global simulations at run time. In this work we discuss the various server configurations experimented with, the implementation and testing of distributed functions, and the experimental results. We also discuss the lessons learned from this experience and sketch directions for future work.;The clients running on multiple computers will all be connected to the same server(s), which will allow them to update dynamically based on events that occur within individual simulations running. In this work, we have studied, made code additions, tested, researched, and tried several different server configurations in an attempt to optimize the distributed system. We will discuss the current system, distributed systems, how the current system can be distributed, and the results from tests performed during our research.
