This action research project explored the use of new media by sports information sae directors in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Thirteen sports information directors participated in this study. A survey questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to collect data for this study. Analysis of this data was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Frequencies and means and standard deviations were calculated to answer each research question. The findings of this study revealed that the Web site was the most commonly used form of new media; furthermore, new media have changed the field of sports information, have allowed for more precise dissemination of information, and have made the field interactive. Results of this study provide relevant information for communications professionals, specifically those practicing public relations in a sport setting. |
